hello my problem is common i guess. i don't know how to use the linux programs, lol but i am trying to.
hello, my acer aspire v5-431 had windows 8.1, i formatted the entire had drive and installed a copy of kali-linux. I have noticed things not work right from the start. No audio, wifi stops if i try to use any of the programs that require a wireless connection i believe i could use some help with start up for all my normal equipped components. thank you

Out of interest, why Kali?
Kali is very much a specialist distro, not recommended for newcomers, and more likely to be run from removable media, not used for an everyday desktop machine.
Unless you have an overarching need/desire to run Kali, I would recommend that you use a more newbie-friendly distro. I use Mint 18.1 myself, but there are many others around (search on the internet for "best newbie distros").

So this isn't about the programs, it's about your hardware. And if you're using Kali, it is absolutely NOT surprising things aren't working. It's not for new users, it's specialized. Load the latest version of Mint, and I can almost guarantee all of your hardware will work just fine.
And you don't tell us what these programs that 'require a wireless connection' are...without details, we certainly can't help.

Yeah, are you new to Linux gilagun?
If so, there are a number of distros you can try like, PCLinuxOS (which is targeted at the newcomer and easy of use), Ubuntu, Linux Mint, etc.
You should also think about the availability of software packages for said distro as well.
Also which software/apps are installed alongside the OS as well. Not all distros will install a copy of VLC media player (with full codec support) alongside the OS as well, at the time of the said distro's installation.
In terms of your audio, wifi, etc problems it all depends on what (if any) drivers Kali Linux has/does not have for those devices. Given as hydrurga has said this distro is not a 'general-purpose' distro, it probably would not have the necessary drivers included with it.

While I thank and welcome you to LQ I'll also have to agree with the above posters.
Get a newbie friendly distro.
