Smile Hardware restriction (CentOS 6.8)

hello guys, if I will move a working CentOS hard disk from one PC to another PC (different vendor) will there be some issues?

Thanks.

Hi...

Possibly. What are the specs for the system you're wanting to move the hard drive to?

Regards...

There is likely an issue but only about hardware modules <drivers> but not about the OS. The best way to find out is back up first important data into a spare hard drive then try to move the working hard drive containing the OS.

Be careful not to alter anything first until you are satisfied of the next environment.

Good luck. Hope that helps.

hi guys, thanks for all the replies.

I decided to reinstall rather than to troubleshoot, it boots to CentOS with the sliding animation.

But upon booting it shows Kernel Panic not syncing.

Anyway, I reinstalled from scratch and it seems to be working now, hopefully it will work fine.
