Hardware list

I read about hardware profiles (or something to this extent) here and noticed that one moderator added the profile of his machine as signature to all his/her posts. I made a list of the hardware of the old box I'm using to learn my first steps in Linux. Presently, I am using Mandriva 2005. I've looked into other flavours trying to find "my distro".

Is there a particular place where I should post this? If so where and how?

Should I append it as signature to my posts like the moderator I mentionned?

For all its worth, I include it here:

Abit VT6X4
Celeron 300A
256 MB SDRAM
Maxtor 20 gig (the drive where Mandriva is installed)
Maxtor 80 gig (FAT 32 data drive from the days it was a Wiin box)
Fujitsu 2 gig (FAT 32 data drive from the days it was a Wiin box)
Sony CD-RW (8X)
SMC 1211 TX
Soundblaster Value Plus
ATI Rage Fury 128 (with TV out)
[old and probably useless] US Robotics modem (I think it is NOT a Winmodem but am not sure)

I didn't have any problems so far. (I'm very much at the beginning)

This is my first post and I hope I didn't violate any rules

welcome to LQ!!!

if you wanna add a hardware description to your sig you don't need to be so specific...

something like this should be more than enough:

Quote:
Abit VT6X4 | Celeron 300A | 256 MB | ATI Rage Fury 128 (TV Out)
just my ...

appending it to your sig is fine...it answers a lot of questions people might ask in order to help you solve a problem...the other thing you wanna do is add your distro to your profile, so people will know what distro you're using when they can help. it avoids lots of wasted time by people responding with "what distro are you using"
