Goback and Norton Systemworks

Does anyone know if GoBack persists on a system even after uninstall? Also I use Norton systemworks as well. Could that be causing problems with the mbr

As I have noted in previous threads, i am having problems getting any bootloader to work. Lilo gives me half a screen of 0 1 and I get no response from Grub (black screen). Using Mandrake 9.2 installed (cannot access) on 2nd hd (primary slave) and Knoppix loads fine from cd. Primary OS is Win98se

I'd say try to disable GoBack temporarily. I haven't used it for a while, but I guess it has a screen during boot-up that lets you play with the settings if you press space. Disable it from there and try using grub.
Also make sure that there's nothing wrong with your grub.conf file and that all the settings are ok.
