gnome-calendar/internet accounts not working on Lubuntu 18.04

I have installed gnome-calendar from synaptic package manager, and then ran `sudo apt-get install gnome-online-accounts` to install internet-accounts.

The problem I am having is that I'm getting this devices window when I try to add an internet account to my calendar. Both calendar and internet accounts are installed by default with Ubuntu, but I can't seem to figure out how to get them to work on Lubuntu.

What do I have to do to get this working? Thanks in advance for any help.

Thank you.

I suspect (as you may have already), that there are a multitude of other components required besides gnome-online-accounts when you are not running Gnome. Lubuntu is LDXE, correct? That has literally nothing in common with Gnome, which is not a bad thing, but isn't going to have all the pieces needed for GOA.

Unfortunately, since I use neither DE, I don't know where to point you to get all the pieces. Someone else may chime in who has been in your situation.

^ i fully agree with this assessment.

i do not use gnome either but i know that its components are notorious for this:
you usually need to use the whole gnome desktop.

or maybe this can help:
