getting iso's are they latest rpms and kernel
i was wondering this last night after i installed redhat and didnt have any sound or networking and some other motherboard stuff. which prevented me from running an update., at least then i could have upgraded/updated stuff.
why,, when redhat9 is old(not old but not updated either) or any distro for that matter, why oh why after so many updates and security and bug patches since redhat came out, why oh why oh why do they keep the OLD iso on the ftp sights, this isnt really very smart to be honest, the iso should be the latest kernel and app's and the rpm disk(s) should have all the latest stuff not stuff that is months and mothns old so that when you install you dont have to worry about no sound or no network or disfunctional motherboard devices and so on and so on.
is there a place that keeps a fairly recent iso of something such as redhat, red hat seemed to run faster on my rig than mandrake so i wanted to use it but not if i have to go thru and update and upgrade everything ,, its too much for me, iu dont understand how to install most stuff. and always seems that it either dont work or i have no idea how to treanslate the error.
hmm im on the mandrake ftp now i seem to recall one of the errors i was getting was concerning the Glide,,, hhmm i see a glide update in the /pub/mirrors/mandrake/official/Mandrake/updates/9.2/RPMS/ directory along with the latest fernel the bigmen kernel too (cool).
funny thing though those things there,, just the glide and kernel updates where not listed in the mandrake update.
i thought redhat had the update kernel option,, isnt there a way to dpwnlaod the new kernels with mandrake or do i have to to it all manually.
