Gentoo Installation Hangs

I'm using the newest release of Gentoo, I get the options to press f1, f2, and choose what kernel i want to boot up with and the options. While booting up gentoo the screen just hangs. I restarted tried gentoo-nofb and it says
> > Loading modules...
:: Scanning for ehci-hcd ....usbcore, _

and hangs. I put the cdrom in my laptop, typed gentoo hit enter and it booted up all the way to the shell. I've used gentoo-nofb nodetect nousb and many other combinations and it still hangs at the same spot.

Some thoughts....

Can you just hit enter without entering anything?

Do you have something weird in your desktop that's not in your laptop? Like dual processors....or maybe it's one of them quantum computers.... You might have to pick some particular kernel for the support for that. (gentoo-quantum?)

Ya hitting enter was the first thing I tried. My desktop is a P4 as well as my laptop, one CPU. I looked at the SMP thing in the gentoo handbook and it said it was for mutlicpu support, I also tried booting with that and it hanged too.
