fortune mod in terminal like Slackware??

Ive pretty much settled on debian as my favorite distro.when I had used Slackware a few years ago I always liked the little sayings you would get when opening a terminal.Im trying to figure out how to do that on Debian..I installed the fortune mods but not sure how to get it setup to do what i want..anyone know how to do this ??
