Formatting help.

Hi,

I need some help formatting my hard drives. I have a 60 GB hard drive that has Windows XP on it, and a second hard drive with RedHat Linux 8.0. I'm wanting to format both hard drives and install Gentoo. I've looked around on the forum for the best way to go at it, but I'm still not sure. Can anyone explain for a newbie like myself?

If you have backed up all your data, the best way to go about is to put in the gentoo install disk, and use it's partition manger to format the partitions.

But first, you mightwant to clear the mbr. You can use a windows boot floppy and type

fdisk /mbr

That would empty your mbr. Now you can use the gentoo install disc.
