firefox and java not properly working under x64

I have firefox 3.0.5 in a x64 machine, with java. There are some pages that I cannot see, there's no notification, it just stays loading the page but nothing happens. I checked this page:

http://java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml

and java seems to be working.
I downloaded java jre-6u11-linux-x64.bin and installed it but it doesn't work.
What else do I need to do?

is this too simple to fix?
I've been trying to install java in 32 and 64 bit and it doesn't work.
It's Fedora 10 what I'm using.
Is there another browser which I could download including all java features?

Well Opera generally includes everything bundled in, so it'd probably work. I dunno why it's not working for firefox tho, question is, what pages don't work for you? Are you sure it's Java and not Javascript that is the problem (two completely different things).
