Post Find the Failed position of CD while taking backup


Dear friends,

I am working in ubuntu 9.x (linux karmic kernal) .
I have restored the content from CD to hard disk. In the mid way of this process, it was failed. I would like to know this below thiongs,

1) which position it got failed ?
2)Any offset option is there in linux to point the particular CD position ?

It is hard to tell actually. I am not an expert but I have the assumption that "restoring/copying" data from one media to another is done either in "blocks" or streams. Either way, in the instance of your 'mid way' failure, it is hard to pinpoint which data was moved and which was not.

If there was not an accurate accounting measure employed it could take time to weigh things out to establish a near truth.

Why not redo the copying/moving? anyway the source being a CD is an RO media and could have remained uncorrupted.
