File location question

Hi.. I'm using sudo to install wine to my system. Things is file.
when I do
Code:
#ls -a /
it spits out
Quote:
/.wine
when I right click to check property, it says the actual locatioon is:
Quote:
/home/my_user_name/.wine
No problem for me..
how ever, if I do
Code:
ls -a /home/my_user_name/
it doesn't show .wine in the output.
What is the explanation for this problem?

Those are commonly called "dot files" - aka "hidden files". The web will be full of this question and more extensive answers.

It is not *fine*. What is it doing there? It is not supposed to be in the / folder.

That is the right location.

It is usually a *.wine* folder.

Something went wrong in your wine installation. Deinstall it. Then install again through the package manager.

WHAT DISTRO ARE YOU RUNNING? This is first info you ought provide for easier helping.
