Angry Ethernet not recognozed in BIOS?

My Atheros ar8132 is not being read by 'lspci' in Linux, or in the BIOS for the computer. It would be easy to say that it is a hardware connection fault, but I had the isuue before and it was fixed by doing an unclean shutdown. I have tried that several times, probably at the expense of some data, to no avail. This computer is not easy to take apart like others since it is a netbook. It is under warranty, but to send it in I would have to take out my new HDD and 2 GB stick of RAM which I really do not want to do. Please help
