enabling SWAP partition (FC4)

hello all.
I wasn't sure where this should be posted (probably hardware I guess) so I posted it here, coz it seems like a pretty simple question.

I just installed Fedora Core 4 and manually partitioned, creating just a / partition and a swap partition at the end of the drive.

Now that I am up and running I see no swap space at all. I'm sure I've heard somewhere about enabling swap but I've never needed to do it before (except when prompted during earlier installs).

I've searched the forums and while there is plenty of discussion of swap, I can't find anywhere the process to enable it.

**my swap partition is not mentioned in fstab**

While I do have plenty of RAM, it irritates me to have a partition on the drive that isn't serving any purpose so I would like to enable (or delete) it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx.

As far as I know, your swap partition SHOULD appear in fstab like so:
Code:
/dev/hda3 none swap sw 0 0
(with /dev/hda3 replaced with your swap partition, of course).

I think you're right Chuckinator. You can also enable swap on-the-fly by using
Code:
 #swapon /dev/hdxx
