error enabling swap space

I had redhat 9.0 up and running before, but always had to use the boot disk which took longer. I thought the reason for that was my boot partition being at the end of my hard drive. So I did a little moving around to get it in the front. Now, when I go to modify an existing installation I get the msg "error enabling swap space on hda8" I fixed my partition leaving the boot partition in front and the swap space was set back to hda8, and I'm still getting the msg. Any suggestions?

Just a wild guess (with so little info) but you may want to check the type of partition of hda8. Make sure it is a swap formatted partition (type 83).

first of all swap is type 82, not 83 in cfdisk or fdisk. Secondly, give us the output of

cat /etc/fstab

If you are saying you MOVED the boot partition, and moved the swap partition, have you created a swap filesystem on /dev/hda8 yet? mkswap /dev/hda8 && swapon /dev/hda8 then edit /etc/fstab.

And give more information. Don't make us guess.
