Unhappy email registration to acquire a download

Hi forum folks
I manage a simple website for a group who want to enable users to download one of their tracks in exchange for the downloader's email address. So I'm looking to find and incorporate some simple PHP code which will load the email from the online form into a database then allow the person who filled in the email form to download the track.
All sounds simple but I cannot find any code like that with the set-up info. I'm pretty sure this is an easy task though and that there are lots of that type of stuff out there. Am I right?
Regards!
eL

Hello eLvet, welcome to LQ,

collecting email-adresses from people who want to download something seems not very legitimate to me. Why would someone give you his email-adress?

Could you please provide more information and convince us, that you are not doing something illegal?

Marcus, how do you see it as any different than requiring a registration to be able to post on message boards?

Because they are fans who presumably like the music and we would like to keep in contact with them. We are not taking their emails without them knowing. They are registering, in the same way that when you register on this forum you have to submit your email and the forum administrators are able to email you. Many of the music band sites will allow you to download a track if you register with them. My clients are not doing anything different.

Well, when I register in a forum, I know for what my mailadress is used, namely for notifications or a newsletter. But I understood, that the OP wants to gather people's email-adresses which can be used for example for spam. So I asked for more information.

Markus
