Have been backing up my dvd collection using DVDShrink 3.2 or DVDdecrypter 3.5.1 with Nero 6 in WinXP. Would like to find comparable software/procedure in Linux to decrypt, decode, compress, encode and burn dvd-9s and dvd-5s to dvd-r.
Dual-booting XP and Fedora 3 on dual Xeon system with 1 GB ram and 8x NEC +-rw drives, if it matters.
Do you want everything, menus and all or just the movie itself? If you are looking only to backup the movie and non of the extras you may want to look at dvd9to5 http://lakedaemon.netmindz.net/dvd9to5/ .
Hope that helps you somewhat, I don't know what else to tell you to use to copy everything on a DVD though.
Thanks for the lead. I'll check that program out right away.
So far I've been backing up the entire dvd, menus, extras, you name it. A full backup. Of course, the flick is the most important, but the other bits are nice.
Dont waste your time as you can still use DvdShrink 3.2 (windows version) using wine and do it the same way u did before. You can use K3B to burn dvd's by going to file>>new video dvd and copy all the video_ts files into the folder and burn it. I spent almost 2 days trying native linux software and it takes forever to satisfy dependencies and u have to use 4 different programs to do what u can do using dvdshrink.
