Question Does Linux automatically recognize more memory?

Simple question.

I have a 64 mb laptop from work that nobody uses, so I threw Slack on it, and run fluxbox, and for the most part am OK.

However, I'm considering spending the $20 to boos it to 128 mb, and do various things with it.

Question is, if I throw in a new memory stick, will the OS automatically recognize that I now have more memory, or will there be a config setting somewhere I need to tweak?

Up to 1 Gb ram: No changes needed, linux will recognize/use mem present.
1 Gb and above (up to 64 Gb) you need to change some kernel settings.

So you don't have to do anything besides putting the mem into your computer.
