My Linux system does not recognize upgraded memory!

Hi There

I have a SONY VAIO PCG-F305 and upgraded from the base 64M memory to 196M by slotting 128M.

I have a single boot into Linux (RedHat 8 - Kernel 2.4.18-14).

I can't make the system recognize greater than 64M memory. I have searched the net for ideas.

boot: linux mem=196M ... system panic
GRUB: adding mem=196M (or anything about mem=64M) to the grub.conf gives me the error 28 : Selected item does not fit in memory
I upgraded GRUB to 0.93, this did not solve anything.

Non-linux point:
If I reboot and press F12 to get the BIOS edit screen the memory shows up as 64M still. I guess the OS gets it's info from there and won't budge.

Is there any way I can get the thing to recognize the extra memory?

Thanks for your help in advance
Matt

Well, in my opinion 64+128=192 rather than 196, but maybe I am wrong
