DIVX Support

OKay, I am trying to watch Spiderman 3 streamed over DivX, but it seems there is no DivX support for Linux. On the screen it say "For Linux Support try MPlayer". Will MPlayer allow me to play these DivX movies? Can anyone help me with this?

Mplayer should be installed by default; check your menu. If you can't find it anywhere, check Synaptic to install it. While you're at it, verify whether mplayerplug-in is also installed; the plug-in enables streaming video, such as from the internet; I believe this is also already installed. As an alternative, you can install vlc, which may also be able to play DivX.
