dhcp question

Hi all,

There is a machine acting as a DHCP server for client machines. My question is, Once the client mahcines get an ip from server does the "the machine acting as DHCP server" needs to be up and running ? what if DHCP server machine goes down, does the client machines retain their IP and continue to work until next IP renew ?

Thanks in advance!

As long as your Lease Time is long enough, the DHCP server can go down and clients will continue operating.
