DHCP question

Just out of curiosity. When dialing up to an ISP or VPN or whatever, at what point does DHCP assign the client ip and name server addresses? In other words, is it done before, during, or after un/pw authentication? Anyone know? Thanks

It's done after authentication. I'm not sure of all the specifics but the server assigns a lease to the client that lasts however long the server specifies. After that time has elapsed, the client must renew its lease.

yah... it must have to verify if the user if it is a valid one.. then if yes... it will go to all of its needed services to the server
