cvs repository cvs-1.11.21.tar.gz installation problem on redhat 5 linux version

hi all!!!

As i am a newbie i am not very familiar with linux system.......

My o.s. is REDHAT ENTERPRISE LINUX 5

I AM TRYING TO INSTALL CVS REPOSITORY (cvs-1.11.21.tar.gz) SO I EXTRACTED IT IN /home/cvs but when i tried
# ./configure
bash: ./configure: No such file or directory

can anyone tell me if abovementioned .tar.gz file could work for me and if yes then how??

could i find somewhere rpm package of cvs repo. ,because i feel a bit comfortable while using this....
