cpu usage

hi,

I am having a problem with a perl script.
In the top it always shows 15% of cpu usage even if no other process's are interfereing.
Is there any method through which the CPU usage can be controlled and increased.

Thanks in advance,
biju

You can change the priority with "nice" although you may want to see why the script is doing it if you think it is a problem.

hi ,

Thanks for the reply.

I am having another server and it shows 80-85% of CPU usage for the same script under same conditions at least for one instance.
Is there any setting in apache that may affect the CPU usage or any perl module that cause this probs.

Thanks in advance,
biju

It may be that the script needs to use that amount of the CPU time or it may be something that is badly written, this could potentially be any module. Without seeing the script or even knowing what it is doing it's hard to say.
