cpu info using cpuid and proc/cpuinfo are different

Hi,

The value of Family, Model and Stepping are different when using proc/cpuinfo and the code at
http://www.cplusplus.com/forum/lounge/16725/
using proc/cpuinfo:
Family 16, Model 4, Stepping 3
using code:
Family 15, Model 4, Stepping 3

Family is different.
My processor is (AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+).

I am also facing the same problem on windows box. There I am getting different values using WMI and __cpuid.

Using __cpuid : Model = 15 Family = 15 Stepping = 0
Using WMI : Family 15 Model 31 Stepping 0

Model is different.
On windows box I have AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+.

Any pointers?
I would prefer to use linked code (above) on both platform, provided the info is correct and using family, stepping and model value you can get the correct processor info from database.

Prashant

Hello Prashant

Try dmidecode. You need to run this command as root.

Check for the section "Processor Information".
