Question Configure audio device for some applications

Hi!

I 'd like to know how to change the soundcard in use for some applications. I usually do that by changing the audio device from the settings but for some apps like Xine and Realplayer I didn't find where to get that changed. I basically only need to set /dev/dsp1 to /dev/dsp.

Help!

Thanks

When you open setup in Xine, you have to choose "Configuration experience level".Choose higher and all settings will be available. For Real player I didn't see this option, here you can choose only sound driver ALSA,OSS,etc.

Thanks eka, I changed the configuration experience level to the highest and went to the audio tab but still I don't find the usual /dev/dsp to change the soundcard being used by Xine.

Maybe it is "ALSA mixer device" or ALSA stereo device. If you have 2 sound cards maybe they are /dev../mixer0 and /dev../mixer1.Look at the /dev directory and find, than try settings in Xine setup.Remember old settings because it will be difficult to make Xine work again if something goes wrong.
