codecs problem on openSUSE 10.2

Hello all,

I'm very new to linux, but i already decide to use PC Linux OS and open SUSE. So i'm going to the point, i have problem with codecs in openSUSE 10.2.
I already install every codecs with yast2 that i have encountered in the net, yet i still can't playany media file with kafeine and amarok, but, vlc and real player can run those codecs, one of my friend say that the engine parameter is wrong.
Can anybody help me? i like amarok and kafeine, i wish it can be my default player

You need to read more carefully, its install " libxine1 " and remove " xine-lib "

Re...

All the above ways will give you an solution...

But, if you don't want to mess up with these things. And your ultimate aim is to just play the all types of audio and video including divx... then you choose the mplayer...

It is an open source... i have tried it...It works superb... Download mplayer source by typing in google..

extract or untar it...then enter in to the extracted directory, give
./configure
make
make install...

oops....enjoy

Thanks all,

Chris594 --> i already tried those w32 codec on ubuntu and did not work (, for openSuse, i haven't tried it, because i already install coedcs via RPM :P

ramesh6056--> thank i'll try mplayer, but actually i already can play avi, divx, xvid, mp4, mp3 on vlc, but vlc can't play mkv correctly, it plays the movie without sound, while my kafein can't play anythin beside ogg and mkv (sound only, big black blank screen) thats why i'm very2 confuse

right now i'm still placing my hope with libxine1, last night i uninstall xine-lib, it also remove my kafein and amarok (

still trying though :P
