Cinnamon Keyboard Layout English UK for Acer Aspire E5 15

I am running Cinnamon Linux Mint on an Acer Aspire E5 15 and cannot identify the correct English UK keyboard layout. Can anyone help a newbie?

Thank you in advance

Bill1961,

Welcome to LQ.

Menu > All applications > Keyboard > Layouts > Add English (UK).

I use the above and my desktop keyboard is identified as Generic 105-key (Intl) PC.

My HP laptop shows Generic 104-key PC.

Suspect as a newbie I wasn't clear. I have already selected, as the language and as the keyboard layout option, English (UK). The English (UK) option under Layout Options is not quite correct for the Acer Aspire E5 15. So I am seeking advice as to which specific Keyboard Option I should select for an Acer Aspire E5 15 in Cimmamon under Keyboard | Layouts | Layout Options.

Bill1961,

My old Acer 7551 laptop shows Generic 104-key PC.

If things start getting messy, you may need to open a Terminal and reconfigure your keyboard.

Let's not go there at the moment.

Can you tell us exactly what is in the wrong place or not working properly?

The Mint keyboard selection screen should allow you type some selected characters to check that you have chosen the right keyboard.

Characters such as @,£,$,|,# are especially prone to moving around on various keyboards.
