Changing directory color in terminal...evading me.

God this seems not even worth posting but i have been throuh the terminal config 20 times and can only find a way to change color of the text i am typing. I am using transparent background for my terminal and when i do a "ls" the directory color happens ot be the same color as my background. Been through everything i can find and do not see a way to just change that directory color.
