Exclamation Changing directories in Sabayon.

Successful install of Sabayon. Logged on as root, attempting to change directory from shell, system refuses to change to any folder in the path. Stays in the same directory no matter what. Use ('CD" or 'CHDIR') to no result. Any suggestions appreciated.

1. cd won't work with capital letters
2. try "cd /"(or "cd /usr" and then "ls". maybe you just don't see the path
3. where exactly doesn't it work?
4. tried xterm/konsole/gnome terminal?
