Changed distibution and video card and system too slow now !!!

hi all, im getting crazy cause i cant understand hw is possible.

Before i had a system with and old video card (nvidia 7300 GT), the distro installed was
slackware 14.1 with kernel 3.10.17 and everything was good accetable.

Now i have changed the video card with a newer one (nvidia 9800 GT), the distro installe is
slackware 14.2 with kernel 4.4.14 and i the Xserver mode is too too too slow.

I tried to disable nouveau video card driver and installed specific video card driver , directly dowloaded from nvidia site. but nothing has changed . Could someone tell me what is happened.

Thanks

I did the forum search you could have done before posting, and came up with this
https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...9/#post4635010

That link (From ~2012) indicates your 9800 was released originally in 2007. I'd be surprised if the blob from nvidia would do much for that. Try nouveau or other OSS drivers.

If you want the nvidia blob, you'll need to install their "Legacy Driver"
see: http://www.nvidia.com/object/IO_32667.html and http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3142

The 340.x series is the last to support your GeForce 9800 GT card (security and bug-fixes only, till the end of 2019).

Use either SlackBuilds.org (https://slackbuilds.org/result/?search=nvidia)

...or download from nvidia.

Download: (version 340.101)
32bit version:
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/drive...x/112997/en-us

64bit version:
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/drive...x/112998/en-us

The Legacy Driver will not auto-create the needed blacklist and Xorg configuration, do this manually:

*Blacklist nouveau:
Install xf86-video-nouveau-blacklist (http://ftp.slackware.com/pub/slackwa...eau-blacklist/)

or

Create a file called /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia-installer-disable-nouveau.conf including:

blacklist nouveau
options nouveau modeset=0

*Reboot (or manually stop your driver and stop/kill X/kdm)

*Install your nvidia driver
sh /path/to/NVIDIA-Linux-ARCH-VERSION.run

*Create your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file:
... just run nvidia-xconfig

https://docs.slackware.com/howtos:ha...aphics_drivers

Thanks to all for the answer, you are help me to find the problem.
I have to say this, the simple way to install nvidia driver is to install the binary file NVIDIA 340.101.run .
This file is the newer one updated recently (2016.12.14)
I say this is the better mode cause that script does everything infact i verify that the driver is installed:

/etc/modprobe.d/nvidia-installer-disable-nouveau.conf
Code:
# generated by nvidia-installer
blacklist nouveau
options nouveau modeset=0
/etc/X11/Xorg.conf
Code:
Section "Device"
Identifier "Device0"
Driver "nvidia"

I have some doubts in this file, but i think driver nvidia is installed.

But I have notice this When i start Xwindows (kde) everything is ok , i can see video, music, photo and everything is ok
But when i open a browser (firefox o konqueror) and go on internet, everything begins slowly and my sata driver begins to works uninterruptedly.

I type a command smartctl -a
