Can't mount any kind of dvd on slacware 11.0

You must know from the beginning that I am using slack for two days.....so i don't have much idea of how it's working.
I put the dvd in my dvd rw and when I try to mount it /mnt/cdrom appears this:
root@nissi:~# /mnt/cdrom
-bash: /mnt/cdrom: is a directory

so I can't see the content of the dvd. What can I do?

please help.
Thanks in advance

Add an 'ls' before that:

Code:
ls /mnt/cdrom

To mount the cdrom, you have to use the mount command.
