hey there,
using gcc 3.22
kernel 2.4.18
rh 9
I'm trying to build the smallest kernel i can, just to experiment, and get some experience. Are there dependencies in the kernel config options??? For some reason, no matter what i try my compile errors out. Sorry I dont have the error messages right now (at home). At one point I even diabled all options and enabled just the 386 arch, and it still wont compile. Every time I use a different option, I get a different error. Am I missing something??? Do i need to refresh my source? ( i did twice already) Should I update gcc?
well the error mesg will help but when u are able to send it will be gr8 temporary measure why not use the up2date which will install Kernel-2.4.20-20.9 for u automatically. Yip i understand that u are trying to streamline your kernel. Also if u can try show the steps that u take just to be sure u have not missed something.
Like I said the err msg is differnet everytime, it'll fail on a diferent routine if i add a differnent option or remove one. I run the standard makes:make mrproper; make config;make dep, make clean, make bzImage. Then I wait for a 1/2 hr and it fails, again and again. I'll try to post some err msgs later on, but its not anything specific, its always different. ne1 else ever have this problem?
