cannot browse internet

hi
i just installed red hat 9 , to play with it. i manged to connect to the internet and surf a bunch of site. All of a sudden , i cannot access an more sites.
The message at the bottom of the screen says" sending request to which ever website" and just sits there for ever.
can anyone please tell me, what i should look for to fix this problem
The way i surf the net is thru a hub, the other computer through the same hub can surf the net just fiine on red hat 8

Have u set the gateway to the server which is directly connected interenet..
Or r u using proxy on ur network??

I am using my own network to get ot th internet.
I just put detect setting autmaticaly.
that is all i did

What are your network settings?

You can edit them by (from the Start menu) System Settings > Network

Make sure to check the box "Activate device when computer starts".
After you edit your network settings press (in order) "Apply" and "Activate".
