Can extra space be added to existing "/" partiition?

Hi all,

I have just installed Centos 5 on an old box to learn. However, I didn't give enough space for the "/" partition (ran "yum update" and I didn't have enough space hehe). There is still unallocated space on the hd, therefore, I was wondering is it possible to add some extra space to the "/" partition with out losing data? If possible then great, else I can just start all over.

Thanks all.

Yes, you can resize it using GParted, for instance.

Thanks brianL, I was able to add more space to the "/" partition with gparted livecd. Much faster than reinstalling everything on this old box .
