Did you test your install cd's to see if they were burned properly?

do you meet the minimum install requirements?? i know SuSE 7.2 and 8.1 (both pro) require something like 40 MB RAM to install ...

i got a 166 with 32, slackware 9.0 and debian 3.0.0 both install no worries (as does redhat 7.0, .1, and .2)

Other than that, check that the BIOS is set to permit booting of the CD, in fact make sure that it can boot of a CD (like put in a CD you know definitly boots (which can be your red hat cd, just check it on another cd)

(using a bootable cd makes things easier, and most pentium166 era hardware will support it)
