cable modem problem in suse??

i got webstar cable modem by scientific-atlanta and problem with configuring.
how to make the connection and how to configure it?
os found the modem but that's all...

First off: Ethernet or USB connection?

Secondly: try this:

$ ping -c 4 linuxquestions.org
$ ping -c 4 64.179.4.149

If the first fails, but the second passes ( 4 replies ) then you need to add you ISP's DNS servers to /etc/resolv.conf

sory my mistake. modem is connected by usb

If the cable modem is capable of Ethernet connection - might I reccomend that. A NIC anymore will only cost you about $10 (USD) and will save you a lot of headaches.
