Modem: US Robotics
Connected: USB
More Info: Dynamic IP, don't need any username or password to access.
I have a Cable Modem US Robotics that is perfectly recognized By Suse, but when i use yast to configure it, i have a problem....In yast network options appears Modem, no doubt....but to configure dial Modems and not Cable modems...so Suse assume that my us robotics is a dial modem, and ask me for username, password, tone or pulse.....
Yes, in the hardware info, it's on the usb devices, but how can i configure it to access the internet??
Because as i have said in my 1st post, Suse identifies him on the network options (the place to configure the access) as a modem, a dial one.
Well, I'm not sure...
Go to yast2 network setup and take a look around. There are dhcp clients, but I suppose they're for eth devices. If you find anything useful, try to ask the device to grab IP with dhcp client.
I will try that, but you are right, the dhcp clients are configured to ethernet cards...tough in the modem area there isn't that possibility, unfortanely.
I will see if i can put my modem with dhcp access.
i got the same problem here running suse 9.1 . i gotta NTL:home (ambit) cable modem and i'm also running USB. Heres something astonishing:
Run the live disk (if you have one)
YES IT WORKS!! WITHOUT ANY TYPE OF CONFIG'ING
however i too have had no success finding a solution for the fully installed suse linux.
keep up the good fight and let me know if you find a solution i'm lookin too.
[SOME OF YOU FAIL TO REALISE THAT FOR VARIOUS REASONS WE CANT USE ETHERNET TO CONNECT TO OUR CABLE MODEMS - THE SEARCH FOR A PROPER CABLE MODEM USB SOLUTION GOES ON.....]
