Unhappy Buffalo NAS - how do we get files on NAS syncing with Windows Sync?

We have a Buffalo NAS with 4 TB of storage. Will have a GenToo LInus box up tomorrow to address permissions issues because Buffalo saw fit not to include the code to allow Windows ACLs to apply. We have users who are on the road alot and use the Windows SYNC utility to sync their important files from the current Windows File and Print server with their laptops. Now with Buffalo, cannot sync. Major issues for IT. How can we setup the relationship between the Buffalo which will be mounted to the GenToo and the Windows XP laptops so the users can sync before they head for the field? We have some IT folks on staff that have some Linux exp and gaining more by the day. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
