Browsing MS network using gentoo 2006.0

Hi,

When I browse the network for shares I see nothing, and I know that there are shares, I see them when I use my other OS's.

How do I make them visible for my gentoo?

Sincerely, Jorgen

Are you using Samba? If not I recommend it. I got mine up and running in minutes thanks to the www.gentoo-wiki.com howto on it.

seriously all I had to do was install samba, then run the command

Code:
mount -t smbfs //IPADDRESS/SHARENAME  /mnt/SHAREDIRECTORY
and it worked for me....

::EDIT:: There are also two kernel options that need to be enabled.

Code:
 File systems  --->
   Network File Systems  --->
     < > SMB file system support (to mount Windows shares etc.)
and
File systems  --->
   Network File Systems  --->
      <M> CIFS support (advanced network filesystem for Samba, Window and other CIFS compliant servers)
Let me know how it works out.
