Unhappy Boots to grub prompt instead of Kubuntu????

Hello, I recently installed Kubuntu with the windows installer wubi. Everything has gone fine until today. When i turn on the pc i normally have a prompt to go to windows or kubuntu. I choose Kubuntu and it loads it up. But now it goes to a grub prompt and i have no idea how to fix this or get into Kubuntu.

Things i did before the last reboot that may have caused this.

I edited my swappiness to help speed things up at the advice of many websites.

Example: http://blog.kutakutik.or.id/linux/tu...kubuntuubuntu/

I changed it from 60 to 10. I did this by adding the line "vm.swappiness=10" to the end of sysctl.conf

I noticed that there was a # or something at the beginning of every line in sysctl.conf and i did NOT add it to my line. This is my guess as to why i am having problems.

The other thing i did was some bug updates. Something was popping up down by the clock area and it was asking me to do some bug updates of some sort. I said yes.

Any idea on how i can fix this? As of now i cannot get into kubuntu at all. It just gives me a grub command prompt.

Food for thought... from a fedora user...

I work with fedora, and i haven't had a dual boot machine for a LONG time (6 years or so)...

But in fedora i would:

1. Boot into Linux using a Recovery or Installation CD in Recovery Mode
2. Find my linux partition (which you may know) and execute a chroot /dev/xxxx command to make my linux partition the root partition
3. Then start troubleshooting...
a. Check your grub.conf file in ?/etc/grub.conf?
b.

hmm... the rest, i can't speak to since i have NEVER run ubuntu.. Distro's that are rootless scare me... but i know why it exists.

Suggestion:

If you want a dual boot machine, and linux is your primary machine, why not run VMPlayer or VMServer (though i don't think server is stable in x86_64) and load you windows within Linux.

VMware

You will love this:

VMWare or Player or Server, allows you to boot into a complete computer within another computer. Since VMWare has matured, "Virtualization" within linux has also grown, but i have not played with Linux's virtualization..

Checkout Youtube Linux Virtualization (but watch for VMWare vs Linux Virtual Machine Manager)

Checkout:

To download vmplayer you'll have to create a vmware account (sucks but what can you do)..
