Boot problem Ubuntu Buffer I/0 error on Dev sda5, logical block 32


Hi i have boot problem, after a critical closing of Ubuntu
Ubuntu

Buffer I/0 error on Dev sda5, logical block 32,async
page ready fsck: error 2(No such file or directory)
while executing fsck.ext2 for /dev/sda5

Is there a solution?

There is always a solution, but you won't like it: replace the failed disk, reinstall linux, restore backups. You may want to boot from the live CD before that to check SMART and asses the extent of damage, and try to recover some data.

Probably but, I doubt you will get one from someone here without more information so start with which version of Ubuntu are you using? Define 'critical closing'. Forcing power off by holding down the power button or something else? Is the sdas5 partition referred to in the message where the Ubuntu OS is installed or is it a /home or data partition. Do you have a 'live' Linux usb/dvd you can use such as the one you used to install Ubuntu? If so, boot it and run the command: sudo fdisk -l which will list devices and partitions as a start to resolving this problem. Does the message you posted appear on boot? It appears a filesystem check was run. Did this happen or did you select to run it? Is what you posted the complete message you saw?
