Angry boot option problem

I have completed a successful install of 7.1, supplied with "Linux for Dummies," on my Sony PCG-FX120 laptop. However, now when booting from the RedHat options menu if I select "DOS" the screen will go dark and then the options menu pops back up. (DOS will not boot, Linux boots perfectly.) At a previous point in the RH installation process I was still able to boot from DOS, actually WindowsME, from this options menu. My last "adjustments" to the RH boot process was running Xconfigurator to get my screen displaying correctly and making pcmcia inactive.

Help!

something not detecting your boot info to boot into DOS or ME.
boot into linux, and look at your lilo.conf file and if you can, post it here so we can look at it. most likely that is the problem, which is in the lilo.

Path to lilo.conf = /etc/lilo.conf
at command type vi /etc/lilo.conf to view the file... or however you want to view the file.
