How to boot Mandrake Linux faster (skip boot option)
sup,
I wanted to know how can i skip the option at bootup screen to choose boot into Linux, floppy and all of the other linux boot options. i don't want to have to choose which linux i want to boot into. im not running a multiboot with two OS. just one. i like the muiltiboot boot screen option that i gotten when i had two OS. but i thought i wouldn't get that bootscreen anymore sinice Linux is the only OS install. i did a clean insall of linux. I want Linux to Automatic boot right into the Choose User screen. not wait for 8sec or choose linux to enter it. thanks!

Assuming you have lilo installed which is the default for MDK Edit the /etc/lilo.conf and change the timeout value to 0.
Rerun /sbin/lilo

Go into the Control Center --> Boot --> Boot config --> Configure LiLo button --> Time delay "0"

To see installed packeges, open up Kpackage - Start - Configuration - Packaging - Kpackage. It has a complete list of all installed RPMs.

I don't know if you've seen this, but it's a list of Linux alternatives to Win programs.
