When booting the kernel to start an installation CD, the boot hangs with 2.4.18 and 2.4.19 kernels, with the messages:
Uniform Multi-Platform E-IDE driver Revision: 7.00alpha2

This part bothers me.
However the 2.4.20 kernel on the SUsE 8.1 Installation CD works, and the boot message shows the same.
I really don't understand
. Is it me (
silly me) or do I need some know-how (
)? I'm just using a debian 2.2.20 at the moment.
