Bluetooth, synching, treo750, document scanning, sd card reader, vaio laptop, kubuntu
I have only recently moved from Windows to Linux and I am only sorry I did not do it earlier. I am running kubuntu on a Sony Vaio laptop model VGN-TZ21MN. Everything is working fine for me except the following.
1. I cannot find a way to sync my pda with my laptop. My pda is a Palm Treo 750 running Windows Mobile vers 5. I tried Kitchensync via bluetooth and via cable but nothing works. I tried birdiesync under windows xp running as a virtual machine, with bluetooth and via cable, but again no success. The ideal solution for me would be to sync either with Kontacts or Thunderbird Lightening, rather than having to go via windows, even if virtual.
2. A related problem: bluetooth. Using the viao's inbuilt bluetooth device, Konqueror recognises my pda, I can send files to the pda by drag and drop and also I can send files from my pda using beam. But when I click on the phone icon in Konqueror and I am asked if I want to browse, I get the files on my laptop. I expected that I would be able to browse my pda's contents from my laptop. More importantly, I cannot find a way how to use the connection for syncing.
3. The system does not read an SD card when I insert it in the vaio's slot.
4. I also have an HP all-in-one printer FP4100. Installing it on kubuntu is what I call plug and play. hplip recognised it immediately (It took me 15 mins to install it under vista). When I press the scan button nothing happens. That's ok because I can scan pictures under hplip. But I also want to scan into pdf multi-page documents (no need for ocr). What would be the best software to do that?
Thanks for any help you can give me
Josef
