Hi,
I had a simular problem on my Card Reader for my Acer Aspire Laptop and it turned out that the chip the card used was not recognized by Linux. Can you try a different card reader to see if you have the same problem.

Well I could look at the card when it was in the camera on other Distros but it seems Kubuntu wont play nice. I ask on the Kubuntu forums and someone said to use a webcam driver but how will that work on the card reader?

Hi,
Not sure about using webcam drivers for your Camera/Card thats a bit beyond my knowledge, but I wouldn't have thought that it would work. I do know there are some bugs in Edgy with regards to Cameras as I cant connect my EOS 400D, but I can connect it in other distros, from what I have seen on various forums, looks like this is fixed in Feisty Fawn release. You cold try the Live CD for Feisty Fawn and see if it fixes your problem.
