blue-red letters in black text?

I had to switch monitors. running now 1920 HD LED monitor.
I had to switch from AMD card to Nvidia pcie GeForce GT 610

I am running the free driver. All the text colors are weridly mixed up. They should all be black but are a mix of black-blue-red colors.

I notice if I zoom the screen, at 150% that text is then all black color.

Do I need to install the Nvidia driver?

I installed nvidia 367 with no improvement.
It is definitely related to zoom, If I zoom the screen, the text is fine, all black. If I zoom out the screen making text smaller, the colors of blue and red letters mixed into black text appear.
If I zoom this page to 110%, then is fine. At 100% it is mixed up colors.
My old broken monitor did not do this, that I noticed. It was 1650 reso, this new one is 1920.

Just a comment that I don't see any blue-red text in the attachments you've posted, apart from blue hyperlinks and red spelling mistake underlines.

I found out the problem goes away if I switch from 1080p to 1080i. except then the text is fuzzier.

I can I suppose take a picture with my cell phone, since you cant see it.

This problem exists also in windows 7 and latest ubuntu whether running nvidia driver or not.
It is very annoying problem, and unexpected. I am using HDMI connection.

Do you have the ability to connect any other systems to the monitor? That might help you determine whether it is the monitor itself that is causing the problem.

Your description sounds like a common issue with nvidia and hdmi where it wrongly identifies your monitor as a TV (though I've only seen this with the non-free drivers).

Does it recognizes your device as monitor or tv?
Could you try a 1080p, 1920 x 1080 resolution (as most TV's work)?

Next, you'll probably need to to change the RGB volumes as well, go for the full range (usually 0-255) and cross your fingers

It is set to 1080p, 1920 by 1080 resolution and the text colors are screwy.

I looked at this rgb volumes, I do not see this setting in control panel for nvidia?

I could boot windows with an old x1650 AMD card, which only has DVI and VGA output. Need to pull off the DVI to HDMI adapter from another PC.

http://www.pcgamer.com/nvidia-cards-...miheres-a-fix/

There is a test image. All I see is white and grey on the left and black on the right???

http://imgur.com/Bw61l68

And the article is from 2014, and Nvidia said this problem would be fixed in the next driver release, so it should already be fixed?

What I think I will do, is plug this monitor into a different PC, of course it also has a Nvidia card.

The problem for me with this monitor is subpixel antialiasing.

When set to Rgba, the problem exists of terrible color fringing.

when set to greyscale, the problem vanishes, system text in Ubuntu looks perfect!

gnome-tweak-tool has this setting under fonts.

HOWEVER where is the setting for Chrome to set to greyscale the antialiasing?
I installed an font extension and set the minimum font size to 17px which has helped a lot making the text fonts blacker.

ok, here is an interesting page for my monitor.
The tiny text examples for windows all show for me lots of red and blue color fringing.
The tiny text examples under the linux section show perfect black, no color fringing, yet the author complains heavily.

I really do not understand what is going on with the Rgba antialiasing here but apparently it is my issue and this LED monitor.
How do those text samples appear to you?
http://www.antigrain.com/research/fo..._RASTERIZATION

The tiny text under the heading, "The FontFocus Way of Grid-fitting" appears PERFECT to me.

The tiny text under heading, "Sounds impossible? OK, one more sample.", looks terrible to me, lots of color fringing.

The tiny text under heading, "-aliasing of any kind is inappropriate, while most Linux people do namely that. The picture below is the result of anti-aliased rasterization with both, FreeType and Win32 GetGlyphOutline()."

Looks absolutely perfect to me.

Do you dislike sub-pixel rendering completely or how it looks (over emphasized) due to your recent hardware switch?

I would not dislike it if it looked good on this monitor.
It looks bad to anyone with clear eyes if they had this monitor.
I can't understand why anyone would like it, if they have my experience.

This is like so many other things in life, you never investigate what is not a perceived problem.
