basic script question

What is a script?

I need to run a command every time linux starts, to get the graphics to show color, how do I do that? I think I just make a sh file, where do I put that file so it boots automatically?

Also, if my command takes 2 commands, how do I represent the enter key in the script?

thanks,

phil

1. apparently after x starts, cuz thats what I end up doing every time.

2. The command is /usr/bin/xbv -NTSC -auto 640 480 12 9, to correct the output of the video card to my hdtv.

3. all users, it boots up in black and white, this command for color.

4. the enter key thing is for this. I want to put an icon on the desktop to run several commands in the terminal. I see the "run in terninal option", but I don't know how to send several commands, so the "enter" key button wouuld be helpful, if thats possible.
Those several commands are, on my laptop, I want to run programs on the desktop, thru ssh, and so the icon would login to the desktop, and run programs.

thanks,

phil
