Regardless of what some may think, I think that this thread is useful.
Learning Linux can be intimidating. Especially when coming from a Windows environment where things are done differently, requiring one to unlearn what (s)he already knows. The questions asked by the OP are typical of the struggles a newbie has. I know because I went through the same process, and often had to have things explained to me in a variety of ways before the light bulb came on. Sometimes I didn't have a clue what questions to ask or what information to supply.
Whatever the motive behind the questions, the answers are real, and typical of the quality of help a person can get from this forum. This thread may be just what some other person needs to help get started.
I see nothing arrogant about the OP, contrary to the thread title. He is not putting down the Linux system, or the knowledge of those who are trying to help him. He has been courteous in his posts. My preference is to give such a person the benefit of the doubt and assume he is genuine.
So to the OP (Original Poster). If you are serious about using a Linux based OS, please continue to come here for help and ignore attempts at penetrating a thin skin. You will almost always get quality help from this group. On the other hand, if your motive is to cast doubt on Linux and portray it as an inferior system, that will probably not work here, and there are folks here who will put you through the fire.
